The Department is divided into
two Ranges i.e Coastal
Andhra and Kadapa Ranges, each headed by Deputy Inspector General of
Prisons. The headquarters of the
two regions are located at Rajahmundry and Kadapa
respectively.
The Coastal Range consists of (7) districts with
largest number of institutions. About 50% of prison population
usually been confined in the jails located in this region, while
the Coastal Andhra Region have jurisdiction of 07 Districts and
Rayalaseema Region with 6 districts as shown below:
